Lallente, Lola, Drunken, Jash, some others: good points. Some of the rest of y'all... wtfever.
Did i have any sympathy prepatch for pirates who complained about, well, anything? No i did not, because i believed things were weighted too heavily in their favor. NOT because i wanted them gone, because i wanted things balanced.
Well now there's the Gotterdamupatch and i *still* want things balanced but it's the other effing way. What the hell?
How does it help me to suddenly be in a ghost town, where i can either wander into the Pirate Exile Zone and guarantee an autoganking (both as in "quickly" and "self-inflicted"), because this horrendous CONCORD facism does nothing to diminish the billions the pirates collectively got from ALL YOU SHEEP WHO PONIED UP AT THE GATES - so now their battleships and cruiser mobs are simply concentrated in a smaller area!
What does it matter if i'm "safe" from PvP at gates, when i have to tiptoe around hordes of sentries and CONCORD police everywhere, which, unlike a PC, i have NO chance of coming out ahead against? And while "safe" i get to mindlessly demolish hordes of st00pid NPC pirates who drop, of all the freakin' things, Miner Is and Civ Shield Boosters?
Adding insult to lack of injury, one of our corpmates got a BP drop from a convoy or pirate last night - a Civ Shield Booster I BP. (:P)*10^23.
Just when some balance seemed promising - i mean, come on, you had warp scramblers and jammers falling out of everyone's ears with no way to counter them and it's the players' fault? - and evasion, which unless you're an idiot* is 100% successful, became even easier - either WCS at range for the disruptor or if scrambled at 7500m run for range - it all went to heck.
Pirate grifer carebare blah blah blah i don't care. Call each other names all you want. The inescapable fact is that the world has been sharded. YOU, all stay over there - and all YOU, stay over HERE. There, now everyone can play nice.
Oh except they won't, because the same whiners who brought this on - surprise! - won't modify their behaviour, and with the PvP eliminated from the game they turn their attention to ninja looting and junk swiping. Bah. Catering to whiners is like negotiating with terrorists; give in to one and you'll have to deal with them all and it'll never end.
So if we keep an eye on the original game concept, it's failed. We're stealth-sharded, with a de facto seperation of "non PK" and "PK" zones. Nice. Not what i'm paying for, and explicitly touted as "oh, we'll never do that here!" and then "well, only if technically necessary at 20,000 players," and now, "if enough idiots who would have gotten bored and quit after 6 months anyway to find some other game to ruin whine about it."
Well, so much for that. What about the intent? To keep the whiners happy? To stop the Evil Nasty People out of empire zones? If you don't like pirates who shoot the weapons from these beautiful ships you've created, why do you reward banal lugs who ponder thru empire space with alts, emptying cans of crap?
Why doesn't anyone see how bass-ackwards this is? I just want a little consistency. If it's "oh well, the thieves can thief and you can't retaliate suck it up," how is this "nicer" than "you can be attacked but you at least have the option to run or fight, or pay if you want to help m0o buy another battleship you moron." If this patch is about getting the Mean Nasty People out of the n00b zones, to cater to their inexperienced n00bishness and make nice, how is this logical at all?
Please, someone explain this to me. The rest of you lot, flame away. I eat more pointed barbs than you're capable of with my breakfast cereal.
*both of my ship losses to PCs were because i was, in fact, an idiot.
You are in a maze of twisty little asteroids, all alike. |
